Seajacks will use its new Scylla installation vessel at the project from March 2016. Scylla is currently being prepared for launch by Samsung Heavy Industries at a South Korean shipyard.

The contract has been awarded by Offshore Windforce, a joint venture between Baskalis and VolkerWessels. The JV was contracted to design, build and install the monopiles for the project. Veja Mate is expected online in 2017 after first being given a construction permit in 2009.

EEW will fabricate 67 1,300 tonne monopiles in Rostock, Germany, while Bladt Industries will fabricate the 67 transition pieces in Aalborg, Denmark.

According to WPO Intelligence, the data division of Windpower Offshore, Siemens was appointed preferred turbine supplier for the project in March. The German manufacturer is set to supply 67 6MW turbines.

The 400MW project is owned by Highland Group Holdings, a subsidiary of the Laidlaw Capital Group. A final investment decision was made in June.

UK Investment firm Laidlaw acquired the rights to the project from developer Bard in September 2014 for an undisclosed fee.

Earlier this month, Seajacks’ Scylla vessel was also contracted for use at Dong Energy’s 660MW Walney Extension project in the Irish Sea.
